46 perusahaan, terbaru JVC Kenwood, Linaro dan OpenSynergy, bergabung kembangkan Tizen untuk otomotif

Automotive Grade Linux (AGL), sebuah proyek kolaborasi open source untuk mengembangkan software stack umum (common) berbasis Linux untuk mobil terhubung (connected car), hari ini mengumumkan bahwa JVC KENWOOD Corporation, Linaro dan OpenSynergy telah bergabung dengan Linux Foundation dan AGL untuk berkolaborasi pada penciptaan sebuah platform referensi otomotif terbuka untuk mempercepat inovasi dan menghadirkan pengalaman mobil terhubung.

Dengan industri otomotif terus berkembang untuk merangkul tingkat konektivitas baru dalam kendaraan, kebutuhan untuk kerangka referensi terbuka yang memungkinkan inovasi yang cepat sangat diperlukan. Anggota AGL berkomitmen untuk tujuan mengembangkan platform otomotif umum dan terbuka untuk OEM dan pemasok untuk memanfaatkan, kontribusi dan membangun produk komersial dan teknologi diatasnya.

Forty-six member companies now collaborating to develop an open automotive platform for the connected car

SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, 2014 – Automotive Grade Linux (AGL), a collaborative open source project developing a common, Linux-based software stack for the connected car, today announced that JVC KENWOOD Corporation, Linaro and OpenSynergy are joining The Linux Foundation and AGL to collaborate on the creation of an open automotive reference platform to accelerate rapid innovation and delivery of the connected car experience.

As the automotive industry evolves to embrace a new level of connectivity in the vehicle, the need for an open reference framework to enable rapid innovation is needed. AGL members are committed to the goal of developing a common and open automotive platform for OEMs and suppliers to utilize, contribute to and build commercial products and technologies upon.

“Our goal is to create a platform that the entire industry can use as a basis for delivering a connected car experience to consumers,” said Dan Cauchy, general manager of automotive, The Linux Foundation. “Having a common automotive platform means that OEMs and suppliers are starting with a proven foundation on which they can build their own experience. OpenSynergy specializes in the development of embedded automotive systems and provides a standards-based software platform called COQOS. The AGL open source community consists of almost 50 developers working across company lines on an open, common automotive platform that can be used by any manufacturer or supplier to advance industry innovation. They recently made available their first software release. AGL builds on top of Tizen IVI and adds key applications developed in HTML5 and JavaScript into a single open source reference platform. Open collaboration within the AGL community means support for multi-architectures and features to bolster the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) experience.
